Mental Health Awareness
Yesterday was World Mental Health Day, a day to promote mental health education and awareness globally. If you follow my Instagram Stories, you may have caught my morning ritual of ringing a bell along with a daily thought on being present and living in the moment. It’s part of a meditation I practice daily. I started this a few years ago because the stress of running a business, staying creative, and raising a family was starting to take it’s toll on me. I was feeling anxious and having a hard time letting go of stress. A friend suggested that I carve out some time to sit silently and let my thoughts just be. A few years into the practice and I feel more mentally sound than ever before. There will always be stress in life, but it’s the way we react to stress that will make or break you. Meditation allows me to be the gatekeeper to my own mental wellbeing.
