It took me awhile to realize that the design process is just as important as the final product. When I was first starting out I wanted to rush the process and race to the final design as fast as I possibly could. I have come to appreciate the journey that each design takes and realized that the following steps below help to make a successful design.
While we are in between spaces building our new flagship location we are offering local pickup at our warehouse for your online orders. I can't stress enough the importance of using a solid design reference in your work. I find that every great design starts with a point of reference. We are pleased to offer a very special collaboration with a leader of contemporary Californian psychedelic-pop aesthetic, Los Angeles–based artist and designer Steven Harrington. We asked Steven to pilot the Benny Gold plane with a reinterpretation of some of our most popular items and he flew us straight into an alternate universe soaked in psychedelic sunshine.
Opening the Benny Gold flagship store a little over 6 years ago was the best move we’ve ever made. It created excitement and a sense of community around the brand. It really put us on the map! We are so thankful to everyone who has visited the store, purchased a product, attended an event or just believed in what we are doing— we are forever grateful! End-of-day September 26th we will be saying goodbye to our 16th street retail location in preparation for our move to Valencia Street. Please stop by our current location this week to wish us luck and reminisce as we build our new retail home on 968 Valencia Street— Stay Gold.
When creatives talk shop, they typically talk about their process. Every creative has a unique approach to how they work and it can offer insight into what motivates them to create anything at all—their driving force. That’s what inspired us to offer the creative roll bag. We love the idea of being a little part of other people’s creative process. Here’s a candid look inside legendary skateboarder and artist Jason Adams’ process.
What will you keep in your creative roll bag?
