Apartment Therapy posted a nice write up about our Glider Plane Candles. They definitely are unique and off the beaten path from the usual offerings. Make sure to pick one up for your apartment before they are gone. They are now available in our shop along with some other limited items.
Contemporary men's footwear brand Thorocraft offered me a chance to design their new logo. To reflect the brand's focus on craftsmanship, quality, durability, and comfort, we tailored the T into a modern hammer and enclosed it in a "C" to give it form and substance. Finally, the custom type treatments were developed from the remnants of the shapes to round out the iconography.
Following up on the success of this years Mash collaboration with Cinelli I worked on a new colorway for a 2010 spring release. The frame is getting debuted this week at the interbike tradeshow. The custom paint and frame stickers are meant to resemble the shape of the Mash lighting bolt and give the bike a feeling of speed. Cinelli will continue to offer the classic color as well as the new color option. And yes it still will have a paper plane snuck in!
With the largest bicycle tradeshow happening in vegas right now I'll keep the posts as bike related as possible. Fixed Magazine was nice enough to run a feature on me in their newest issue. They touched on the skateboarding / bike crossover and my artistic contributions to the bike community. Stop by your local bike shop to pick up the issue or download it here.
With the Interbike tradeshow happening this week Here is the first look at a two tone rim that I have coming out with Velocity. The collaborative rim are getting debuted at the tradeshow this week. I wanted to keep the rims classy but still be unique to what is already available. They all come with a gold colored aluminum card and custom sticker. The black section of the card is chemically etched into the metal. Each card has the set number stamped directly into the metal.
The rims will be available in select bike shops and online exclusively right here in the shop!
As the new product starts to crowd my office, I will give you a first look at what's hitting the stores next month. This is the first time I produced socks for the line. Custom patterned argyle with signature paper plane flight pattern are woven into an athletic sock in two colorways. These are good to go for a little extra pop under your outfit and strong enough to ride your bike or board with.
I worked with Desired Hearts on their new logo and first collection. The range is now available including a special collab colorway that is exclusive to the Benny Gold Shop
The first collection I designed for Desired Hearts is released today. An exclusively colorway, of the Heart of Gold shirt, is available on my site in a limited run of 79 (gold atomic number). Get is here before it's gone.
With Fall starting and the new stuff hitting stores really soon the last of this seasons press comes in. A big thank you goes out to Japan for holding me down. That's a good look with the shirt and hat together. I still have a few of the keychains left in the shop, but the rest is pretty much gone.
NY is a great city! So much to do and not enough time to squeeze it all in. I was out in NY for my Cousins Bar Mitzvah and spent most of my time in a suit with the family. It was great to see everyone again and meet some relatives for the first time. I snuck some skating in with good friend Will Harmon and meet up with famed jewelry designer Gabriel Urist to check out the Glider Plane pendant we are working on together. I'll post better pics as the sample develops, but for now I need to catch up on sleep from the city that never sleeps.
Just got back in from NY. While I was away Hearty Mag dropped their newest issue. They were nice enough to include me in their features. Felt it was a fitting first post back from NY since they are based out there.
I am traveling in NY for a bit. Right before I left for my trip Fedex dropped of all the NEW DOUGHBOY Fitteds! My office is packed floor to ceiling right now with New Era Boxes. For everyone that asked when they are coming in - they are in and will hit the stores next month! Enjoy the rest of your week!
Long term friends 48blocks and Roughneck Hardware have a new shop opening downtown SF this weekend. When they asked if they could stock the Benny Gold brand there was no way I could refuse. I also dug up some long sold out 5panel camp hats for their opening. Get there early because these are the very last of those hats. Congratulations on the new store guys and thanks for the profile on the site!
Order are coming in from the stockist. Here is a preview of the new shirt designs that are dropping with the fitteds, camp hats, accessories and the rest of the line. If you live in a place with no Benny Gold retailers.. tell them to hit me up.
With the new doughboys set to release this PSA surfaced with one of the cast wearing last years version. The public service announcement should have read: Don't miss out on the Doughboy fitteds this time around, because I constantly get requests from customers trying to track the last ones down. Getting knocked up in high school also is not cool.. just saying.
Cinelli was nice enough to send over a few shirts for my online store. The shirt has a large chest print of the crest that I designed for the Mash X Cinelli bike. These shirts come direct from Italy and I only have a limited amount. Inventory is also updated for the Logo Stripes, Good as Gold Shirts and Fitteds. If you missed out before, nows your chance to get them before they are gone for good... again
Thanks to everyone submitting to the Flickr group. It's grown into an amazing archive to document the placement of these stickers. The first achievement is placed on a cooler by everyone's favorite skateboard legend John Cardiel from the Beauty and the Beast tour. The second photos take us to 5th century BC and the Great Wall of China, wow! That's going to be hard to top, but please keep adding to the group!
Another world wind trip to vegas is over for the magic / project / capsule tradeshow. My head is still spinning from all the meetings and possibilities! The highlight of the trip was checking out KNYEW. I am happy to add them to our store account list. They even put our logo up on their banner - good looking out guys!
