Wednesday, April 30, 2008

Keeping this week theme of bovines and bikes here is another sneak peak. The headbadge, I designed for Freeman, got polished and is almost ready to go. I love that everything is coming together. I look forward to seeing these bikes on the street! Check the logo and sketches out here.

Mash Goes to Texas

Monday, April 28, 2008

I just got back from a Texas trip with Mash. They asked me to design a t-shirt for the trip. I turned the logo into a Texan cattle and added steam coming out of the nose to represent the speed of a fixed gear bike. It's funny how much the shield looks like a cows head to me now. We had a blast on the trip! It was great to meet the locals and experience riding in a new city. Thank you for all your hospitality!

Happy Anniversary

Wednesday, April 23, 2008

I find It important to support the the people and shops that hold you down. Black Chamber, in Singapore, has supported me and showed me love since I started the line. They have placed good sized orders and promoted it. I am forever grateful! They approached me to design a shirt for their 1 year anniversary. I created the graphic based on a play on words with our names and came up with the Black Gold theme. The oil rig is in the shape of a large number 1 to symbolize their first year in business. Happy Anniversary!

SF Gate Art Adventures

Monday, April 14, 2008

I recently spent the day with the San Francisco Newspaper so they can do a Art Adventure with me. Check the story out here. There also is a feature in the Sundays paper that accompanies it. Unfortunately I was in LA when it came out, so I have yet to see it. I have to go hunt down an old newspaper now.

Freeman Headbadge

Friday, April 11, 2008

Here is a sneak peek of the bicycle headbadge that I designed for Freeman. Before it goes into production a wax mold was made that will need to be cast in high polished steel. What I love about working with Freeman is that they are into the handmade aspect of bicycle building which fits with my hand done approach to design. This wax cast was hand cut by one of the founders. I am impressed and looking forward to seeing the final headbadge!

Rather Grey Logo

Tuesday, April 08, 2008

I recently finished this logo for new denim brand called Rather Grey. They are focusing on quality industrial denim with modern silhouettes. I wanted the logo to reflect the modern industrial aesthetic of their denim. I went with stencil approach to a modern type treatment to give the identity an industrial feel. We talked about keeping the identity classic, so I came up with a modern take on a classic letter lock up for the RG that can live independently. Look out for this brand, they have big things planned!

Sticker Contest Winners

Monday, April 07, 2008
I received so many entries for the sticker contest that it was hard to narrow it down to just one. I decided to give out hats to the four best entries that I received. Thanks to everyone that sent in for stickers and took the time to get me a picture. I sent out e-mails to the winners asking for their hat size.

Jose Martinez from NYC got all arty with this professional photo of Gold Street.

Jon Zamora from San Jose, Ca came through with the first good photo that I received. He risked going to jail to get this pic. That is worth a fitted hat for sure!

Jason Williams from Gainsville, FLorida sent in a pic of his girlfriend - hahaha. There is NO WAY my girl would let me get away with that.

Igotbraids went above and beyond and submitted the most creative and flattering entry.
